Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans in sewage sludges
Chemosphere, 1985Abstract A municipal sewage sludge from Syracuse, New York and a largely domestic sludge from Sodus, New York were analyzed for polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) using combined gas chromatography and high resolution mass spectrometry (GC/HRMS).

Separation of polychlorinated dibenzothiophenes from polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and -furans
Fresenius' Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 1997Polychlorinated dibenzothiophenes (PCDT) have recently been identified in a series of environmental samples. Since their masses are very close to those of the polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDD), low resolution mass selective detection cannot be used to distinguish between these two classes of compounds.

Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans in PVC pyrolysis
Polymer Degradation and Stability, 1998The tars produced by PVC pyrolysis under different conditions of temperature and oxygen concentration were analysed for PCDDs and PCDFs content. The tar collected after low temperature pyrolysis (500 °C) and in reduced oxygen atmosphere (11.6% O2) had the highest PCDDs/PCDFs content.

Polychlorinated Dibenzodioxins and Polychlorinated Dibenzofurans
Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, 1999Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (dioxins) are contaminants with long biological half-lives. The most toxic dioxin, 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin (TCDD), has a half-life in humans of 9 years. A tolerable daily intake (TDI) of 10 pg/kg body wt/day has been recommended, which was derived from steady-state concentrations

The effects of extraction parameters on the microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDDs) from fly ash were compared. The effects of toluene-isopropyl alcohol (IPA) mixture compositions, solvent volume, temperature, extraction time (rise and hold time), and microwave power on the ...

Levels of Polychlorinated Dibenzodioxins/Dibenzofurans in Jordanian Clay
CLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, 2014This research has taken care of the determination and documentation of dioxins/furans in the Jordanian kaolin, where several samples were collected from different sites in Jordan varying in their geographical nature and geological ages. The research has proved that all samples are dioxin‐free.

Polychlorinated Dibenzodioxins and Dibenzofurans
1992Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDD) and dibenzofurans (PCDF) — often refered to simply as “dioxins” — constitute a group of 210 closely related chemicals. They are mainly formed as byproducts in combustion or heating processes in the presence of substances containing chlorine as well as during the synthesis of chemical compounds structurally based on

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDDs/PCDFs) are ubiquitous low level environmental contaminants. Present finding of PCDDs and PCDFs in the human food supply suggested that laboratory animals maintained under controlled conditions may also receive unwanted exposure to these compounds from food.

Determination of polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans in fly ash
Chromatographia, 1997Polychlorinated Dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and Dibenzofurans (PCDF) in fly ash samples from coalburning power plants in Greece have been determined by high resolution gas chromatography combined with mass spectrometric detection (HRGC-MS) applying the isotopic dilution technique. Concentrations of PCDFs were 20 to 600 fold higher than for PCDDs.
