Direct Growth of Transparent Boron Nitride Neutron Shielding Layer for Space Window. [PDF]
Direct growth of sp2‐sp3 hybridized BN (HBN) on quartz, enabled by an h‐BN buffer, produces transparent and stable films up to 80 µm thick with high transmittance and strong neutron shielding, making HBN a promising candidate for space windows in long‐term lunar missions.

C16 Phase High Entropy Borides With High Magnetic Anisotropy. [PDF]
Rare‐earth‐free C16‐phase high entropy boride thin films exhibit enhanced magnetic anisotropy with coercivities surpassing their binary and ternary counterparts. Combinatorial synthesis of (Fe‐Co‐Ni‐Mn)2B films combined with density functional theory enables mapping of the magnetic properties across the composition space, revealing high entropy ...

Thermal shock resistance of polycrystalline cubic boron nitride [PDF]
Abstract The effect of thermal shock on the flexural strength has been investigated experimentally. It was found that the variation in flexural strength with quench temperature was influenced by the CBN grain size. Polycrystalline material containing small CBN grains showed a discontinuous drop in measured flexural strength above a material dependent

Effect of White Layer Obtained by Hard Cutting on the Friction and Wear Performances of GCr15 Bearing Steel Surface [PDF]
In order to study the effect of the white layer obtained by hard cutting on the friction and wear performances of the specimen surface, the polycrystalline cubic boron nitride tool was used to cut the GCr15 bearing steel hardly. The hardness of the white

The influence of microstructure on the fracture statistics of polycrystalline diamond and polycrystalline cubic boron nitride [PDF]
Abstract Flexural strength data of a number of grades of polycrystalline diamond (PCD), and polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) were analyzed using Weibull, normal and lognormal distributions. The role of microstructure in the failure mechanism of such materials was analyzed in terms of the chosen strength distributions.
