Stability boundaries, percolation threshold, and two phase coexistence for polydisperse fluids of adhesive colloidal particles

open access: yes, 2004
We study the polydisperse Baxter model of sticky hard spheres (SHS) in the modified Mean Spherical Approximation (mMSA). This closure is known to be the zero-order approximation (C0) of the Percus-Yevick (PY) closure in a density expansion.

Microfluidic Engineering of Chitosan‐Coated Nanoemulsions for Controlled Release and Stability in Space Pharmaceutics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Microfluidic engineering enables the fabrication of chitosan‐coated, melatonin‐loaded nanoemulsions with controlled release and enhanced physicochemical stability for space pharmaceutics. Interfacial biopolymer coating modulates droplet behavior under accelerated thermal stress and simulated microgravity.

Decoupling the Impact of Deep‐Trap and Band‐Tail States on PbS Quantum Dot Photodetectors via Alkylamine Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Band‐tail and deep trap states are effectively disentangled through the use of selective alkylamine additives. PA‐driven 2D ordering narrows band tails, while HA enhances halide passivation and Pb coordination to suppress deep traps. A comparative study of their CQD short‐wave infrared (SWIR) photodetectors further reveals whether band‐tail states or ...

Granular Structure Determined by Terahertz Scattering

open access: yes, 2013
Light-scattering in the terahertz region is demonstrated for granular matter. A quantum-cascade laser is used in a benchtop setup to determine the angle-dependent scattering of spherical grains as well as coffee powder and sugar grains.

GSH‐Responsive Nanoparticles Enhance Hepatocellular Carcinoma Immunotherapy Through Synergistic Effects of Cuproptosis and PI3K Inhibitor Combination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cuproptosis, an emerging form of programmed cell death, is capable of inducing mitochondrial dysfunction. Moreover, the PI3K‐AKT‐mTOR signaling pathway contributes to tumor cell progression by reprogramming mitochondrial morphology and function.

A Master equation for force distributions in polydisperse frictional particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An incremental evolution equation, i.e. a Master equation in statistical mechanics, is introduced for force distributions in polydisperse frictional particle packings. As basic ingredients of the Master equation, the conditional probability distributions

Bare and Polymer Coated Iron Oxide Superparamagnetic Nanoparticles for Effective Removal of U (VI) from Acidic and Neutral Aqueous Medium

open access: yes, 2018
Superparamagnetic {\gamma}-Fe2O3 nanoparticles (5 nm diameter) were synthesized in water. The bare particles exhibit good colloidal stability at ~ pH 2 because of the strong electrostatic repulsion with a surface charge of +25 mV.

A Nanoparticle‐Integrated Complete Manufacturing Pipeline of Chemically Engineered Exosomes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a novel manufacture technology of chemically engineered exosomes. The four steps of manufacturing, i.e., biogenesis, loading, isolation, and storage, are integrated by the use of a nanoparticle. The manufacture technology incorporates three innovative components, i.e., a new nano‐bio effect, a new composite nanoparticle, and a new isolation ...

Sphere-to-cylinder transition in hierarchical electrostatic complexes

open access: yes, 2009
We report the formation of colloidal complexes resulting from the electrostatic co-assembly between anionic surfactants and cationic polyelectrolytes or block copolymers.

ZDHHC9‐Mediated Palmitoylation of ACSL4 Drives Ferroptosis in Diabetes Mellitus–Induced Erectile Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) is a highly prevalent complication among diabetic patients; however, its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Metabolic disorder is a hallmark of diabetes, yet its precise contribution to DMED progression is not well defined.
