Modification of polyether ether ketone for the repairing of bone defects
Biomedical Materials, 2022Abstract Bone damage as a consequence of disease or trauma is a common global occurrence. For bone damage treatment—bone implant materials are necessary across three classifications of surgical intervention (i.e. fixation, repair, and replacement).

Medical applications of polyether ether ketone
Translational Surgery, 2018Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) has been widely used during the past decades in the medical field. Its versatile nature makes PEEK very popular in a variety of medical devices. The purpose of this article is to summarize the medical applications of PEEK in following fields: cranioplasty, dental implants, interbody fusion, joint replacements, soft-tissue ...

Tribological behavior of blends of polyether ether ketone and polyether imide
Wear, 1993Abstract In this study polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and polyether imide (PEI) were blended to raise the glass transition temperature (Tg) above that of PEEK while retaining the low-wear characteristics of PEEK. The friction and wear of injection-molded blends were measured in dry sliding by a stainless steel ball sliding on a polymer blend disk. The

Polyether Ether Ketone Cranioplasties Are Permeable to Diagnostic Ultrasound
World Neurosurgery, 2018It is a common assumption that the human skull and solid skull implants are impermeable to diagnostic ultrasound. We demonstrated in 2 patients that frontoparietal polyetheretherketone cranioplasties allowed useful imaging of intracranial parenchymal and vascular structures with higher ultrasound frequencies than the 2 MHz used for the temporal bone ...

Conduction current in polyether-ether-ketone
[Proceedings] 1992 Annual Report: Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2003The mechanism of electrical conduction in polyether-ether-ketone is studied based on the results of DC conduction and thermal pulse current (TPC) measurements. Charging current curves as a function of time at 150 degrees C are shown along with similar curves at an electric field strength of 0.6 MV/cm.

Polyether ether ketone microstructures for chemical analytics
Microsystem Technologies, 2008This paper presents an initial approach towards polyether ether ketone (PEEK) microfluidic structures for chemical analysis by introducing PEEK capillary electrophoresis (CE) chips. PEEK shows outstanding material features, such as extremely high chemical resistance and mechanical stability, high temperature resistance, very low adsorption.

Physical aging characteristics of polyether ether ketone
Composites Science and Technology, 1987Abstract Creep studies and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) indicate that physical (thermal) aging affects viscoelastic properties of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) at all achievable levels of crystallinity. The phenomenon has been observed over a range of crystallinity (2%–33% by volume) at several test temperatures.

Synthesis and Research of Properties of Polyether Ether Ketone
Key Engineering Materials, 2019Polyether ether ketones based on 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone and hydroquinone in sulfolane medium in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate were synthesized by the method of high-temperature polycondensation. The rheological, thermal, electrical and physical-mechanical properties are investigated.
