The implementation of knowledge‐based planning with partial OAR contours for prostate radiotherapy
Abstract Purpose Intra‐ and inter‐observer contour uncertainty is a continuous challenge in treatment planning for radiotherapy. Our proposed solution to address this challenge is the use of partial contours for treatment planning, focusing on uninvolved or non‐overlapping portions of the organs‐at‐risk (OARs) with the planning target volume (PTV ...

Sand-Filler Structural Material with Low Content of Polyethylene Binder [PDF]
Currently, most of the waste plastics cannot be recycled, causing serious environmental concerns. In this research, we investigated a compaction formation technology to fabricate structural materials with thermoplastic binders. When the compaction pressure was 70~100 MPa, with only ~10 wt% polyethylene binder, the flexural strength was greater than ...

Radiation Damage and Recovery Properties of Common Plastics PEN (Polyethylene Naphthalate) and PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Using a 137Cs Gamma Ray Source Up To 1 MRad and 10 MRad [PDF]
Polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) and polyethylene teraphthalate (PET) are cheap and common polyester plastics used throughout the world in the manufacturing of bottled drinks, containers for foodstuffs, and fibers used in clothing. These plastics are also known organic scintillators with very good scintillation properties. As particle physics experiments

Abstract The thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) sheet is a measurement device coated with manganese‐doped LiB3O5 in sheet form. The sheet is 0.2‐mm thick and flexible. Hence, it can fit and be installed on irregular surfaces. The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of measuring patient surface doses during radiation therapy using TLD sheets.

Synthesis of high molecular weight polyethylene using FI catalyst [PDF]
A FI Zr-based catalyst of bis[N-(3,5-dicumylsalicylidene)-2′,6′diisopropylanilinato]zirconium(IV) dichloride was prepared and used for polymerization of ethylene. The effects of reaction conditions on the polymerization were examined in detail.

Growing Sweetcorn in Alaska's Cool Environments [PDF]
Sweet corn can be grown in Alaska's cool environments by employing clear polyethylene mulch to raise soil temperatures. Rows should be run north and south, spaced about 5 feet apart for 4-foot wide mulch.
