Investigations of the hydration of polyethyleneglycols using an acoustic method

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2016
Measurements of the velocity of ultrasound in alcohol — water solutions of polyethylene glycols with molecular weights 400, 1500, 2000, 15000 and 20000 at a temperature of 25 ± 0.1°C have been made and the values of the hydration numbers defined by the ...

FORMULATION AND STABILITY OF HEPTAMINOL SUPPOSITORIES [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Assiut University, 1984
The chemical stability of Heptaminol Base and of Heptaminol Hydrochloride was determined after shelf-life storage in an aqueous solution at room temperature. Under these conditions, the Base was found about 10.54 times more stable than the hydrochloride.

A Dual‐Functional Electrolyte Additive for Highly Reversible Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a dual‐function additive for aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. TBAB disrupts the hydrogen‐bond network of water while TBA+ adsorbs on Zn to improve interfacial wettability and regulate Zn2+ flux, resulting in suppressed dendrite growth and parasitic reactions. This synergy extended the lifespan of Zn|

Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Engineering of Glioblastoma‐Derived Biomimetic Vesicles and Their Structural and Molecular Features

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biomimetic nanosystems and vesicles have arisen as a novel approach to design vesicular transport systems with diverse therapeutic potential. The ‘biomimetic’ strategy involves the integration of cell membrane components into lipid bilayers, conferring them with biological properties originating from the cell of origin. Until now, most studies

A Comparison of 2 L of Polyethylene Glycol and 45 mL of Sodium Phosphate versus 4 L of Polyethylene Glycol for Bowel Cleansing: A Prospective Randomized Trial

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2013
Background/AimsPolyethylene glycol (PEG)-based gut lavage solutions are safe and effective, but require the intake of large volumes of fluid. The use of 2 L PEG plus 45 mL sodium phosphate (PEG2 plus NaP) was compared with 4 L PEG (PEG4) for bowel ...

Crowding alone cannot account for cosolute effect on amyloid aggregation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Amyloid fiber formation is a specific form of protein aggregation, often resulting from the misfolding of native proteins. Aimed at modeling the crowded environment of the cell, recent experiments showed a reduction in fibrillation halftimes for amyloid ...
