The compaction properties of polyethylene glycols
Abstract The mechanical properties of polyethylene glycol (PEG) powders of different average molecular weights have been characterized in terms of their yield pressure, determined from the densification of compacts by the method of Heckel. The yield pressure was found to be proportional to the molecular weight of the PEG.

Biofilm Control by Active Topography with Mucin Coating
This study reports a new antifouling strategy based on a bioinspired design. Mucin coating enhances biofilm control by active topography with beating micron‐sized pillars. Besides the mechanical force of beating pillars, the antibiofilm activities also involve biological factors since mucin coating inhibits swarming motility and c‐di‐GMP synthesis in ...

Protective Effect of Intravenous High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Glycol on Fatty Liver Preservation [PDF]
Ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) leads to significant tissue damage in liver surgery. Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) are water soluble nontoxic polymers that have proved their effectiveness against IRI.

This work presents π–conjugated polymers based on dihydropyrazine (DHP) and ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT), developed to produce highly conductive, flexible films for printed electronics. By optimizing the DHP and EDOT ratio, strong and compact π–π stacking is achieved, resulting in polymer films with conductivities up to 1700 S cm−1 under ambient ...

Crowding alone cannot account for cosolute effect on amyloid aggregation.
Amyloid fiber formation is a specific form of protein aggregation, often resulting from the misfolding of native proteins. Aimed at modeling the crowded environment of the cell, recent experiments showed a reduction in fibrillation halftimes for amyloid ...

Polyethylene Glycol Camouflaged Earthworm Hemoglobin [PDF]
Nearly 21 million components of blood and whole blood and transfused annually in the United States, while on average only 13.6 million units of blood are donated. As the demand for Red Blood Cells (RBCs) continues to increase due to the aging population, this deficit will be more significant. Despite decades of research to develop hemoglobin (Hb) based

H2O2‐Generating Advanced Nanomaterials for Cancer Treatment
H2O2‐generating nanoplatforms can exploit tumor redox imbalance for O2 and toxic reactive oxygen species generation, leading to hypoxia reversal, and apoptosis of cancer cells, respectively. This review highlights the mechanisms of these nanoplatforms, including exogenous H₂O₂ delivery, endogenous amplification, and metal peroxides, which leads to ...

Responses of the mangrove Rhizophora mucronata to high salinities and low osmotic potentials [PDF]
The effect of solutions of seawater or non-saline polyethylene glycol (PEG)-6000 on dry mass, tissue water potential, stomatal resistance and inorganic solute uptake were investigated in the mangrove, Rhizophora mucronata Lam.
