Dimensional analysis of total hip arthroplasty polyethylenes

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ortopedia, 2013
Objective: This paper performs a dimensional analysis of different total hip arthroplasty polyethylenes, cemented and non-cemented, Brazilian made and imported. Methods: It was considered acetabular components with 50 mm for the 28 mm femoral heads.

Selective Chain-End Functionalization of Polar Polyethylenes: Orthogonal Reactivity of Carbene and Polar Vinyl Monomers in Their Copolymerization with Ethylene.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2018
Pd(II)-catalyzed copolymerization of ethylene, carbene species, and polar vinyl monomers is successfully developed for the first time to obtain chain-end-functionalized polar polyethylenes, with selective distribution of the polar vinyl monomers within ...

Order-Disorder Transition in Urea-Polyethylene Complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The phase transition of urea complexes whose guest components range from n-paraffin to polyethylene was investigated by DSC thermal analysis. The transition temperatures increased with increasing the chain length; the related heats did not change much ...

Evolution of polymer blend morphologies during extrusion in a flat die [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The control of blend morphologies during process is of prime importance in order to predict the final properties of polymer blends. A coextrusion technique combined with static mixers was developed in order to smartly blend polymeric melts and to ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

EFFECT OF POLYETHYLENE MOLECULAR MASS CHARACTERISTICS ON SLIP EFFECT

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2016
The rheological properties of polyethylene with different molecular weight characteristics were studied. Difference of molecular weight characteristics was found on the basis of melt flow index, and slip effect in the molten polyethylene flow was studied.

Fatigue performance evaluation of bitumen mastics reinforced with polyolefins through a dissipated energy approach

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion, 2020
Polymers are known to improve the fatigue resistance of sphalt mastics. However, undesirable results can be obtained if the polymer is not successfully integrated into the bitumen binder. The goal of this work is to evaluate the effect of the addition of

Dynamic shear responses of polymer-polymer interfaces

open access: yes, 2012
In multi-component soft matter, interface properties often play a key role in determining the properties of the overall system. The identification of the internal dynamic structures in non-equilibrium situations requires the interface rheology to be ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
