Stereoselective access to polyfunctionalized decalins
Tetrahedron Letters, 1994As a model of a stereoselective approach to ajugareptansin 1, a versatile and straightforward access to polyfunctionalized cis or trans decalins is presented. It is based on a Lewis acid-mediated addition of furan to the unsaturated ketoester 3 followed by oxidative opening of the furan to give cis decalins by an aldolisation process.

One-Pot Synthesis of Polyfunctionalized Cyclic Urea Derivatives
Organic Letters, 2003[reaction: see text] Unexpectedly, imidazolidin-2-ones are easily obtained from beta-keto esters upon treatment with tert-butyl nosyloxycarbamate and calcium oxide under mild conditions. The structure of the product was established by X-ray crystallography.

Efficient Synthesis of Polyfunctionalized Pyrimidine Derivatives
Synlett, 2016A simple and direct procedure was developed for the synthesis of a novel series of polyfunctionalized pyrimidines. They were prepared via reaction of N-(substituted carbamothioyl)benzimidamides (prepared from the reaction of benzimidamide hydrochloride and isothiocyanates) and malononitrile in the presence of CuBr/Et3N in DMF at 80 °C.
