Electrical Behavior of Green‐Synthesized Nano Silver Particles Embedded in Polyurethane: Numerical and Experimental Studies

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
AgNPs were synthesized using Urtica dioica. AgNPs‐PU was prepared using a solution mixing method followed by spin coating. Microscopy Optical image of AgNPs‐PU composite with different concentrations of AgNPs. Electrical behaviour versus pressure. ABSTRACT This study explores the electrical properties of a nanocomposite composed of green‐synthesized ...

Stretchable and Flexible Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules Embodying an Auxetic Rotating‐Square Structure for Adjustable Transmittance

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
A photovoltaic module design concept featuring electrically connected sections of commercial crystalline silicon solar cells encapsulated in an Auxetic Rotating Square (ARS) structure is presented. Advantages include adaptable electrical configuration, high mechanical durability, optically adjustable transmittance and no dependence on pre‐stretched ...

Capacity building needed to reap the benefits of access to biodiversity collections

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Global conservation efforts increasingly depend on digitised natural history collections, yet the benefits of this digital data are not equally shared. We analysed biodiversity specimens and citation data from Montserrat and the Cayman Islands to assess who collected these specimens, how they are used, and by whom.

A Path Planning Algorithm Based on Tangent Point Search and Constrained B‐Spline

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The traditional Tangent Point Search (TPS) algorithm, as a path planning algorithm suitable for large‐scale maps, performs well in the presence of large rectangular obstacles. However, it has two disadvantages: 1. it requires that the obstacles be rectangular so that the shape of obstacles is limited to the fixed form. 2.

Taxonomic and Functional Structure of Benthic and Terrestrial Invertebrates During Wet and Dry Phases of an Intermittent River Within Central Italy

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Temporary rivers and streams are characterized by flow cessation and support high biodiversity of both aquatic and terrestrial species. In this study, we analyzed biological and ecological traits of benthic invertebrates to assess the ecological resilience and resistance of an intermittent river in Central Italy.

Integrated hydrological modeling of anthropogenic and climatic perturbations in the upper Jemma subbasin of the Upper Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopia

open access: yesRiver, EarlyView.
This study employs advanced QSWAT+ modeling to assess the compounded effects of land use/land cover change and climate variability on the hydrology of the Upper Jemma sub‐basin in Ethiopia's Upper Blue Nile region. Results reveal intensified surface runoff, reduced evapotranspiration, and altered streamflow patterns driven by agricultural expansion and

Diffusion and Surface Effects on Sodium‐Promoted MoS2 Growth Observed in Operando

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Understanding precursor diffusion and substrate interaction is key to advancing chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMCs), yet direct observation has remained a challenge. The diffusion and surface effects of MoS2 growth are investigated by the amounts of sodium in real‐time.

Behavioural responses of brown bears to helicopter capture

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Understanding the effects of capture and handling on wild animals is crucial in evaluating ethical practices in ecological research, and in avoiding biased conclusions from misinterpreting biologging data potentially affected by capture. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of helicopter capture on the behaviour of Scandinavian brown bears ...

Denning chronology in an Arctic brown bear population

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Denning is a critical behavioral adaptation for brown bears Ursus arctos to cope with winter, a period of extended resource scarcity. Bears reduce their body temperature, heart rate, and metabolism during this time to minimize energy expenditures. The Arctic has among the most pronounced and longest period of resource scarcity. Thus, we predicted bears

Early‐growth trajectories affect juvenile survival, age at first reproduction and lifetime fitness in a long‐lived seabird, the little penguin

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the short‐ and long‐term effects of early development on life‐history outcomes in little penguins. By describing chick growth using 11 different parameters (including growth irregularity), weshowed that different growth trajectories lead to differences in long‐term fitness.
