Polyhedral surface decomposition with applications [PDF]

open access: yesComputers and Graphics, 2002
Abstract This paper addresses the problem of decomposing a polyhedral surface into “meaningful” patches. We describe two decomposition algorithms—flooding convex decomposition and watershed decomposition, and show experimental results. Moreover, we discuss three applications which can highly benefit from surface decomposition.

Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane (POSS) Surface Grafting: A Novel Method to Enhance Polylactide Hydrolysis Resistance

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
This work considers the development of an easy and scalable approach to change the features of poly(l-lactide) (PLLA) films, which is based on the application of a surface treatment with an amino-functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS).

On a proper acute triangulation of a polyhedral surface

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2011
Acute triangulations traditionally draw attention of mathematicians. It is already known that: 1) Every \(n\)-gon can be triangulated into \(O(n)\) acute triangles [the author, Eur. J. Comb. 23, No. 1, 45--55 (2002; Zbl 1006.65019); \textit{L. Yuan}, Discrete Comput. Geom. 34, No. 4, 697--706 (2005; Zbl 1112.52002)].

Novel Flyweight Three-Dimensional Self-Assembled Graphene Oxide/Octa(Aminophenyl) Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane Hybrid Aerogels [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2021
Herein, flyweight organic-inorganic hybrid scaffolds were fabricated by self-assembly and reduction of graphene oxide via covalent reaction of octa(aminophenyl) polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane with graphene oxide.

Multisphere Representation of Convex Polyhedral Particles for DEM Simulation

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2021
The representation of particles of complex shapes is one of the key challenges of numerical simulations based on the discrete element method (DEM). A novel algorithm has been developed by the authors to accurately represent 2D arbitrary particles for DEM

Adjacency Graphs of Polyhedral Surfaces

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 2023
AbstractWe study whether a given graph can be realized as an adjacency graph of the polygonal cells of a polyhedral surface in $${\mathbb {R}}^3$$ R 3 .
