Comparison of Berkovich and spherical tip indentation for determining the Young’s modulus of polymer thin films encapsulated by a dielectric

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings
Pixel integrated micro-lenses for CMOS image sensors consist of a stack of polymer acrylate resin films encapsulated by a dielectric layer. Due to the mismatch of thermomechanical properties, adhesive or cohesive fractures can occur.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Advances in biomaterials for osteonecrosis treatment

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Osteonecrosis, or ischemic osteonecrosis, occurs when bone tissue dies due to a reduced blood supply. This process begins with the death of osteocytes and is followed by the development of necrotic bone tissue.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
