Polymer insulating materials and insulators for high voltage outdoor applications

Conference Record of the 1992 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, 2003
The authors discuss the characterization, evaluation and performance of polymer weathershed materials and insulators used for high-voltage outdoor applications. Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), ethylene propylene monomer (EPM), silicone rubber (SR), and an EPDM/silicone rubber alloy were tested.

Effect of insulator configuration on ageing deterioration of polymer insulators

2011 Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC)., 2011
According to our accelerated ageing test results of 275-kV full scale insulator strings coated with the same silicone rubber, conventional porcelain long-rod insulators showed better anti-ageing performance compared with transmission line polymer insulators. As the reason for such results two factors are considered.

Surface electroluminescence phenomena of insulating polymers

2003 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2004
Electroluminescence (EL) phenomena reveal some important information about the electrical ageing of solid insulating materials in discharge-free condition. The EL emission from the surface of several insulating polymers with a planar electrode system was investigated under ac electric field in vacuum.

Novel polymer insulating surfaces for electromagnets

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2000
Abstract The electrical characteristics of condensed layers of propyltrimethoxysilane (PTMS) on iron oxide substrates have been investigated using a novel testing apparatus developed in this laboratory. The insulating nature of these surfaces as a function of applied load and voltage has been investigated.

Polymer insulating films for cryotron fabrication

Microelectronics Reliability, 1966
Abstract The use of organic polymeric insulating films to fulfil the insulating requirements of the cryotron is discussed. Of the known and well-established methods for the production of thin polymeric films, the electron beam initiation of polymerization of an adsorbed monomer is considered to be the most promising for the production of cryotron ...

Leveraging Insulator’s Tacticity in Semiconducting Polymer Blends

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
Blending conjugated polymers with insulating matrices is often utilized for engineering extrinsic properties in organic electronics. Semiconductor/insulator blends are typically processed to form a uniformly distributed network of conductive domains within the insulating matrix, marrying electronic and physical properties from individual components ...
