Thermostatistics of the Polymeric Ideal Gas [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. D 90 (2014) 044051, 2014
In this paper, we formulate statistical mechanics of the polymerized systems in the semiclassical regime. On the corresponding polymeric symplectic manifold, we set up a noncanonical coordinate system in which all of the polymeric effects are summarized in the density of states.

Vinyl Polymerization. XLVIII. Polymerization of Methylstyrenes and the Effect of Dimethylaniline on their Polymerization [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1961
Abstract 1. Solution polymerizations of styrene, p-methyl-, p-ethyl-, p-tert-butyl-, m-methyl-, 2,4-dimethyl-, 2,5-dimethyl- and 3,4-dimethylstyrene were carried out at 50 and 70°C by ABIN in benzene, and the rates of polymerization and [η]’s of the polymers were determined.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

One-step Synthesis of Cubic Gauche Polymeric Nitrogen with High Yield Just by Heating [PDF]

open access: yesChinese Phys. B 33, 126802 (2024)
A high-efficient one-step synthesis of cubic gauche polymeric nitrogen was developed just by thermal treatment of KN3 powders. The Raman and infrared spectra confirm the formation of polymeric nitrogen networks. Thermogravimetric differential scanning calorimeter measurements show that the content of cubic gauche polymeric nitrogen is as high as 1.5 wt%

N$_2$H: A Novel Polymeric Hydronitrogen as a High Energy Density Material [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Mater. Chem. A 3, 4188 (2015), 2015
The polymeric phase of nitrogen connected by the lower (than three) order N-N bonds has been long sought after for the potential application as high energy density materials. Here we report a hitherto unknown polymeric N$_2$H phase discovered in the high-pressure hydronitrogen system by first-principle structure search method based on particle swarm ...

End-group functionalization of poly(2-oxazoline)s using methyl bromoacetate as initiator followed by direct amidation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Poly(2-alkyl/aryl-2-oxazoline)s (PAOx) are an alluring class of polymers for many applications due to the broad chemical diversity that is accessible for these polymers by simply changing the initiator, terminating agent and the monomer(s) used in their ...

Constrained Nonlinear Model Predictive Control of an MMA Polymerization Process via Evolutionary Optimization

open access: yes, 2014
In this work, a nonlinear model predictive controller is developed for a batch polymerization process. The physical model of the process is parameterized along a desired trajectory resulting in a trajectory linearized piecewise model (a multiple linear ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Localized Polymerization Using Single Photon Photoinitiators in Two-photon process for Fabricating Subwavelength Structures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Localized polymerization in subwavelength volumes using two photon dyes has now become a well-established method for fabrication of subwavelength structures. Unfortunately, the two photon absorption dyes used in such process are not only expensive but also proprietary. LTPO-L is an inexpensive, easily available single photon photoinitiator and has been
