The Selective Maintenance of Allelic Variation Under Generalized Dominance

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2016
Simple models of viability selection acting on variation at a single diploid locus only maintain multiple alleles for very restricted sets of fitnesses. Most of these models assume that fitnesses are independent, even if the genotypes share alleles. Here,

Detection of Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Rs2013162 of IRF6 Gene in Patient with Cleft Lip and Palate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Cleft lip and palate are congenital disorders which induce affected individuals medically, socially and psychologically. The objective of this study was to investigate the association of Single Nucleotide Polymorphism(SNP); rs2013162 of ...

Polymorphism and bistability in adherent cells

open access: yes, 2013
The optimal shapes attained by contractile cells on adhesive substrates are determined by the interplay between intracellular forces and adhesion with the extracellular matrix.

FOXP3 Polymorphism and Upregulation of the CXCL12‐CXCR4‐SNAIL Axis with High Infiltration of M2TAM by STAT3/NFKB Pathways Influence the Survival of Cervical Cancer Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
This study highlights how cervical carcinoma progression is shaped by immune–tumor interactions within the TME. M2‐TAM infiltration, regulated through STAT3/NF‐κB and linked to CXCL12–CXCR4, promotes immune suppression, angiogenesis, and poor survival.

First-principles predictions of structural and magnetic phase stability in irradiated α-Fe

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters
We here use density functional theory and the creation-relaxation algorithm to investigate the appearance of polymorphism in α-Fe, driven by irradiation-induced microstructural changes. Local constriction leads to magnetic instability and provides excess

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The crystal structures of three 3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiones, including a second polymorph of 4-[(E)-(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino]-3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione and a redetermination of 4-amino-3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
The structures of three 3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thione derivatives are reported. The structure of 4-amino-3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione, C3H6N4S, (I), has been redetermined with an improved model for the H atoms: the non-H atoms of (I) all

The polymorphism of phenobarbitone

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1968
AbstractThe polymorphism of phenobarbitone has been investigated using infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. Eight crystalline modifications have been isolated and shown to have distinguishable infrared absorption spectra and X-ray powder diffraction patterns.

Impact of Various Rotary Friction Welding Process Parameters on the Mechanical Properties of a Steel–Aluminum Joint

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rotary friction welding of steel E355 and the aluminum alloy EN AW‐6082 can lead to the formation of brittle intermetallic phases. The primary process parameters are varied in order to determine their influence on this intermetallic phase formation and the resulting mechanical properties.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous
