Stabilisation and polynomial decay estimate for distributed semilinear systems

International Journal of Control, 2012
In this article, we propose a family of feedback controls that guarantee weak and strong stabilisability for distributed semilinear systems. In the case of strong stabilisation, an optimal decay of the state is estimated. Applications to wave equations are provided.

Exponential Decay and Regularity for SG-elliptic Operators with Polynomial Coefficients

2007
We study the exponential decay and the regularity for solutions of elliptic partial differential equations Pu=f, globally defined in ℝn. In particular, we consider linear operators with polynomial coefficients which are SG-elliptic at infinity. Starting from f in the so-called Gelfand-Shilov spaces, the solutions u∈S of the equation are proved to ...

Polynomial decay rate in extensible Timoshenko–Boltzmann beam

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik
AbstractIn this article we derive the equations that form the nonlinear mathematical model of the Timoshenko–Boltzmann extensible system with memories. The nonlinear governing equations are derived by applying the Hamiltonian principle to full von Kármán equations in the framework of Euler–Bernoulli beam and Boltzmann theories for viscoelastic ...

On the Polynomial Decay of the Wave Equation with Wentzell Conditions

2020
We consider the wave equation on the unit square of the plane with feedback, satisfying the classical geometric control condition. It is well known that the resolvent operator associated with this equation must be unbounded on the imaginary axis which implies that there is no exponential stability in the energy space.

Vector subdivision schemes with polynomially decaying masks

SCIENTIA SINICA Mathematica, 2012
We investigate the solutions of vector refinement equations with polynomially decaying masks, which play an important role for characterizations of Riesz wavelet bases and biorthogonal wavelets. A vector refinement equation is of the form:  where φ = ( φ 1, . . .

The optimal polynomial decay in the extensible Timoshenko system

Mathematische Nachrichten
AbstractIn this paper, we derive the equations that constitute the nonlinear mathematical model of an extensible thermoelastic Timoshenko system. The nonlinear governing equations are derived by applying the Hamilton principle to full von Kármán equations.
