EVALUATION OF INSECTICIDES FOR THE CONTROL OF YELLOW MITE, POLYPHAGOTARSONEMUS LATUS (Banks) ON CHILLIES

Among the seven insecticides tested for the control of the chilli muranai mite. Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks), triazophos 40 EC @0.04% was significantly superior to all other treatments in reducing the mite population both in pot culture, and under field experiments at 7 DAT.

The broad mite,Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Acari: Tarsonemidae), is an important, and in some cases recent, pest of diverse crops in tropical and subtropical regions. Infested leaves become bronzed with down-curling margins, buds are aborted and flowers distorted, shoots grow twisted and fruit may be misshapen and russeted.

With 27 eggplant varieties as test objects, this paper studied the effects of their leaf pubescent on the field population density of Polyphagotarsonemus latus, its injury index on eggplant leaf, and population growth rate.
