EVOLUTIONARY SYNTHESIS BY LEDYARD STEBBINS

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции, 2014
The paper concisely reviews the history of establishment of the idea on evolutionary synthesis involving plant objects and its experimental justification. The roles of S. Navashin, E. Babcock, and G.L.

Polyploidy Index and Its Implications for the Evolution of Polyploids

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
Polyploidy has contributed to the divergence and domestication of plants; however, estimation of the relative roles that different types of polyploidy have played during evolution has been difficult.

From knowledge to action: the importance of characterizing herbicide resistance mechanisms for implementing management strategies

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This review bridges the gap between understanding resistance mechanisms and applying them in weed management, highlighting how mechanistic insights reveal vulnerabilities that can guide more effective control strategies. Abstract Herbicide resistance remains one of the most intensively studied areas in weed science because of its direct consequences ...

Trace Levels of Triclosan May Affect Root Growth and Morphology in Cultivated Plants

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Triclosan (TCS) is a micropollutant frequently detected in biosolids applied to agricultural soils. In soil solution—where it is potentially bioavailable to roots—it occurs at residual concentrations (ng L−1). Nevertheless, the ecotoxicological implications of TCS exposure in agricultural crops at these concentrations are still not fully ...

Inhibin βB Mediates Oligotrophic Adaptation via Regulating Muscle Satellite Cell Proliferation and Differentiation in Schizopygopsis younghusbandi

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
① Nutrient deficiency upregulates inhibin βB, activating SMAD signaling to promote p21. Increased p21 inhibits mcm2/mcm4/mcm5 and cyclin E2, inducing G1‐phase arrest, slowing growth, and reducing energy consumption. ② Inhibin βB also upregulates pdgf‐c, which induces α‐SMA, leading to muscle satellite cell fibrosis.

Lessons from natural versus experimentally Induced polyploids

open access: yes, 2013
Polyploidy in higher plants is a major source of genetic noveltyupon which selection may act to drive evolution, as evidencedby the widespread success of polyploid species inthe wild.

Analysis of testicular germ cell apoptosis in Cobitis loaches (Cobitidae, Teleostei) from diploid-tetraploid populations

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2015
Taxa of the genus Cobitis are distributed in Europe mainly in populations composed of individuals at different ploidy level. The species occur in Poland include the spined loach C. taenia and the Danubian loach C.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells From a Klinefelter Syndrome Patient: Functional Characterization and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cell therapy, particularly those utilizing mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs), is gaining traction as a therapeutic option for regenerative treatment in patients with limited therapeutic options. Although the safety of MSC‐based interventions is well established, uncertainties remain regarding how genetic abnormalities and ...
