Sugarcane breeding array 1.0: A high‐density SNP chip for genomic studies and molecular breeding

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Sugarcane Breeding Array 1.0, a high‐density single‐nucleotide polymorphism array, is based on deep whole‐genome resequencing of diverse sugarcane accessions. Validation demonstrated its robust performance and cost‐effectiveness in population structure analysis, genome‐wide association studies, and molecular breeding applications.

Sparse Tensor Decomposition for Haplotype Assembly of Diploids and Polyploids

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2017
Haplotype assembly is the task of reconstructing haplotypes of an individual from a mixture of sequenced chromosome fragments. Haplotype information enables studies of the effects of genetic variations on an organism’s phenotype. Most of the mathematical

Recent advances in the genomics of sugarcane (Saccharum)

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review systematically summarizes advances in sugarcane genomics, evolution, classification, and breeding practices. It identifies key research bottlenecks and proposes an integrated research framework to facilitate predictive sugarcane breeding, which provides valuable references for genetic improvement of other complex polyploid crops.

The Effect of Polyploidisation on the Physiological Parameters, Biochemical Profile, and Tolerance to Abiotic and Biotic Stresses of Plants

open access: yesAgronomy
Polyploidisation is a very common phenomenon in the plant kingdom and plays a key role in plant evolution and breeding. It promotes speciation and the extension of biodiversity.

Epigenetic and developmental regulation in plant polyploids

open access: yesCurrent opinion in plant biology, 2015
Polyploidy or whole-genome duplication occurs in some animals and many flowering plants, including many important crops such as wheat, cotton and oilseed rape.

A robust biotechnology induces artificial genomic duplication via transient RNAi‐mediated suppression of OSD1 in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Plant Polyploidization via Gene Interference, a robust technology for inducing polyploidy in various rice accessions, uses transient RNAi‐mediated suppression of OSD1 to induce genomic duplication. Two strategies were used to directly induce fertile autotetraploid plants in the first generation, thereby substantially shortening the breeding cycle ...

The ciliary neurotrophic factor induces Stat3 phosphorylation in distinctive cytotypes of organs involved in body metabolism: An immunohistochemical study

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
p‐STAT3‐positive cells in metabolically relevant peripheral organs and tissues from mice administered with recombinant CNTF (0.3 mg/kg). Abstract Administration of ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) reduces food intake and body weight in both humans and experimental animals, where it also ameliorates hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and dyslipidemia ...

A Genetically Encoded Marker for Imaging of Internal Plasmodium Membranes

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
IMMP is a peptide‐based marker that labels internal membranes across multiple stages and species of the malaria‐causing parasite Plasmodium. It works in both live and fixed samples and supports long‐term live‐cell imaging. ABSTRACT Fluorescence microscopy is a powerful tool to analyze the subcellular architecture, and long‐term live‐cell imaging ...
