Fluorinated Amphiphilic Dendrimer to Improve PET Imaging of Cancer

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Fluorination of a self‐assembling dendrimer nanosystem reduced liver retention, accelerated renal clearance and improved biodistribution, ultimately enhancing tumor uptake and enabling more sensitive tumor detection by positron emission tomography (PET).

Organic and Inorganic Pollutants, Oxidative Stress Biomarkers, and Electrophoretic Protein Profiles in an Endangered Thresher Shark (Alopias vulpinus) From Southeastern Brazil: A Case Study

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A comprehensive screening of different environmental contaminants (total metals, thermostable metal fractions associated with detoxification, and persistent organic pollutants) was conducted in an endangered common thresher shark (Alopias vulpinus ) individual incidentally captured in southeastern Brazil.

Simultaneous measurements of solid–liquid interfaces and bulk liquids using soft X‐ray absorption spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
Simultaneous measurement methods have been developed for soft X‐ray absorption spectroscopy of solid–liquid interfaces using the electron‐yield method and bulk liquids using the transmission method.Simultaneous measurement methods for soft X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) of solid–liquid interfaces and bulk liquids have been developed.

Social organization and habitat use shape the gut microbiome of a marine fish

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
This study provides the first evidence linking habitat use—and to a lesser extent social organization—to gut microbiome composition in a wild marine fish. The results indicate that local habitat conditions are the primary driver of microbial variation, while social effects are detectable but weak.
