Evolution of PON: 10G-PON and WDM-PON
Asia Communications and Photonics Conference and Exhibition, 2010This paper covers the current standardized 10G PON systems: XG-PON1 from ITU (G.987) and 10G EPON from IEEE (802.3av) as well as progress towards longer reach and higher capacities. The emerging WDM-PON technology variants and their characteristics are outlined. Finally, the evolution of PON network management is discussed in detail.

An ependymoblastoma of the pons
The Journal of Pathology, 1975A case of ependymoblastoma of the pons in a child is reported, the first so far described in this location. The case adds further evidence for the acceptance of ependymoblastomas as a specific variety of primitive human glioma.

A case of a pontine tuberculoma in a 12-year-old male from Somalia is presented. Cranial magnetic resonance imaging, performed in Abu Dhabi 1 month before admission in Germany revealed a tumorous lesion in the pons with surrounding edema; a presumptive diagnosis of a pontine glioma was made.

PON in adolescence: from TDMA to WDM-PON
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2008Passive optical networks are used for fiber-to-the-home/curb/cabinet/building applications. Today, two PON variants with time-domain multiple access, GPON and EPON, are being used for mass roll-outs. WDM-PONs are the next step up from these PONs to accommodate traffic growth and new applications. This article analyzes WDM-PON variants and proposes they

Operator Trial of Quadruple PON Coexistence with 100G-PON, 50G-PON, 25GS-PON and XGS-PON
Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2025We present North American operator trial involving world’s first simultaneous operation of four PON technologies: 100G-PON, 50G-PON, 25GS-PON and XGS-PON over a field-deployed 11-km-long fiber. We report correct operation of all systems in the trial.
