Population dynamics in a random environment

open access: yes, 2000
We investigate the competition between barrier slowing down and proliferation induced superdiffusion in a model of population dynamics in a random force field. Numerical results in $d=1$ suggest that a new intermediate diffusion behaviour appears.

A scale-invariant model of marine population dynamics

open access: yes, 2010
A striking feature of the marine ecosystem is the regularity in its size spectrum: the abundance of organisms as a function of their weight approximately follows a power law over almost ten orders of magnitude.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Association between the number of comorbidities and all-cause mortality during the COVID-19 pandemic: A Danish nationwide, retrospective cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Public Health Research
Objectives: Chronic illnesses have been linked to elevated risks of hospitalization and mortality during the COVID 19 pandemic. While many studies have examined how specific comorbidities influence outcomes among hospitalized COVID 19 patients, less is ...

Simulation of large deviation functions using population dynamics

open access: yes, 2008
In these notes we present a pedagogical account of the population dynamics methods recently introduced to simulate large deviation functions of dynamical observables in and out of equilibrium.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
