We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Explaining the Origin of the Anthropocene and Predicting Its Future [PDF]
Growth of the world population and the world economic growth were hyperbolic in the past 2,000,000 years. Recently, from around 1950, they started to be diverted to slower trajectories but they are still close to the historical hyperbolic trajectories. Regional growth of population and regional economic growth were also hyperbolic.

The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Evidence for super-exponentially accelerating atmospheric carbon dioxide growth [PDF]
We analyze the growth rates of atmospheric carbon dioxide and human population, by comparing the relative merits of two benchmark models, the exponential law and the finite-time-singular (FTS) power law. The later results from positive feedbacks, either direct or mediated by other dynamical variables, as shown in our presentation of a simple endogenous

Impact of Population Growth and Climate Change on the Freshwater Resources of Lamu Island, Kenya
Demand for freshwater is rising with factors, such as population growth, land use change and climate variations, rendering water availability in the future uncertain. Groundwater resources are being increasingly exploited to meet this growing demand. The

The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

Population growth, externalities, and poverty [PDF]
The authors review the implications for social policy in developing countries of two major justifications for fertility reduction: the externality argument and the income redistribution argument. First they set out the arguments.

Individual Variability in Dispersal and Invasion Speed
We model the growth, dispersal and mutation of two phenotypes of a species using reaction−diffusion equations, focusing on the biologically realistic case of small mutation rates. Having verified that the addition of a small linear mutation term to

Growth rate of the ancient human population in Australia [PDF]
Empirical growth rates of the ancient human population in Australia have been calculated using the data for the number of rock-shelter sites. They confirm the earlier conclusion that there was no intensification of growth between 10,000 and 1000 years BP.
