Transfers of capital and shifts in New Zealand’s regional population distribution, 1840-1996 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
When researchers attempt to study population and development, and particularly the role of migrations, the focus is normally on national level trends, frequently involving time-series analyses of more generic indicators of population change and economic ...

Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Effects of Different Levels of Drought Stress in Ficus Plants on the Life History and Population Growth of Perina nuda (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae): An Age-Stage, Two-Sex Life Table Analysis

open access: yesInsects
Under the background of global climate change, frequent drought events have significantly impacted plant–insect interaction. This study focuses on Ficus microcarpa, an important landscaping and urban greening tree species in tropical and subtropical ...

Unique circulating miRNAome signatures captured with distinct molecular states in Lynch syndrome and sporadic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNA profiles distinguish nonmalignant Lynch syndrome from cancer‐associated Lynch syndrome, sporadic colorectal cancer, and healthy controls. Age‐stratified analysis reveals disease‐specific regulatory states, and a six‐miRNA panel shows concordant separation in an independent colorectal tissue cohort.

Analysis of the Sublethal Effects of Spinetoram on Megalurothrips usitatus Across Multiple Generations Using the Age-Stage, Two-Sex Life Table Method

open access: yesAgriculture
Megalurothrips usitatus (Bagnall) is a major pest of cowpeas that severely affects their yield and quality. Spinetoram (a semi-synthetic derivative of natural spinosyns, modified to improve potency, residual activity, and stability) is currently one of ...
