Gas exchange characteristics of Populus trichocarpa, Populus deltoides and Populus trichocarpa x P. deltoides clones

Tree Physiology, 1991
Responses of net photosynthesis, dark respiration, photorespiration, transpiration, and stomatal conductance to irradiance, temperature, leaf-to-air vapor density difference (VDD), and plant water stress were examined in two Populus trichocarpa clones (one from a moist, coastal climate in western Washington and one from a dry, continental climate in ...

AFLP fingerprinting of Populus deltoides and Populus × canadensis elite accessions

New Forests, 2008
Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) was used in genetic fingerprinting of 22 elite Chinese Populus deltoides and Populus × canadensis accessions. The results indicated that each of the nine AFLP primer pairs selected generated fingerprint profiles that were unique to each of the accessions.

Pachytene Chromosome Preparation in Populus deltoides Marsh

Current Protocols in Plant Biology, 2016
AbstractA technique that produces large numbers of good quality pachytene chromosome preparations has been developed for Populus. Anthers at the pachytene stage of meiosis are used as materials. There are two main modifications in our method relative to the traditional squashing method that address the challenges the thick cytoplasm observed during the

Defoliation effects on isoprene emission from Populus deltoides

Oecologia, 1999
Isoprene emission from plants is one of the principal ways in which plant processes alter atmospheric chemistry. Despite the importance of this process, few long-term controls over basal emission rates have been identified. Stress-induced changes in carbon allocation within the entire plant, such as those produced by defoliation, have not been examined

Antimicrobial flavonoids from the twigs ofPopulus nigra × Populus deltoides

Natural Product Research, 2012
A bioassay-guided fractionation of the ethyl acetate extract from the twigs of the hybrid poplar 'Neva', Populus nigra L. × Populus deltoides Marsh, led to the isolation of three flavonoids, which were identified by means of spectrometric and physicochemical analysis as 5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-flavone (1), 5,7-dihydoxy-flavone (2) and 5,7-dihydroxy ...

Refixation of xylem sap CO2 in Populus deltoides

Physiologia Plantarum, 1993
Vascular plants have respiring tissues which are perfused by the transpiration stream, allowing solubilization of respiratory CO2 in the xylem sap. The transpiration stream could provide a conduit for the internal delivery of respiratory CO2 to leaves.

Chromosome painting and comparative physical mapping of the sex chromosomes in Populus tomentosa and Populus deltoides

Chromosoma, 2018
Dioecious species accounted for 6% of all plant species, including a number of crops and economically important species, such as poplar. However, sex determination and sex chromosome evolution have been studied only in few dioecious species. In poplar, the sex-determining locus was mapped to chromosome 19. Interestingly, this locus was mapped to either
