A Duplex Real-Time PCR Assay for the Simultaneous Detection of Porcine Circovirus 2 and Circovirus 3 [PDF]
Porcine circoviruses (PCV) include PCV1, PCV2, and the new-emerging PCV3. PCV2 is pathogenic to pigs, but the pathogenicity of PCV3 in pigs is debatable. Recently, there have been frequent reports of PCV2 and PCV3 co-infections in clinical samples. Thus, it would be practical to develop a duplex PCR method to detect PCV2 and PCV3 simultaneously.

African swine fever (ASF) is a lethal and highly contagious viral disease of domestic and wild pigs, listed as a notifiable disease to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). In the absence of any credible commercially available vaccine, the economic losses to the global pig industry inflicted by ASF is insurmountable.

Retrospective Analyses of Porcine Circovirus Type 3 (PCV-3) in Switzerland
Porcine circovirus 3 (PCV-3) has emerged as a significant pathogen affecting global swine populations, yet its epidemiology and clinical implications remain incompletely understood. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the prevalence and histopathological features of PCV-3 infection in pigs from Switzerland, focusing on archival cases of ...

Recombinase polymerase amplification assay for rapid detection of porcine circovirus 3
The objective of this study was to develop a real-time recombinase polymerase amplification (rt-RPA) assay for the rapid detection of porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3). Specific RPA primers and exo probes were designed for the cap gene of PCV3 within the conserved region of viral genome. The amplification was performed at 38 °C for 20 min.

Overview of the use of silica nanoparticles in vaccines against pathogens. Different kinds of vaccines against infectious diseases are currently using solid or mesoporous silica nanoparticles in their formulation. Silica microparticles and nanoparticles (SiNPs) have been studied as vehicles for vaccines.
