Annual Review of Animal Biosciences, 2013Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the primary causative agent of porcine circovirus–associated disease (PCVAD). The virus preferentially targets the lymphoid tissues, which leads to lymphoid depletion and immunosuppression in pigs. The disease is exacerbated by immunostimulation or concurrent infections with other pathogens.

Research in Veterinary Science, 2009In the present study whole genome of six Brazilian isolates of PCV2 were sequenced, analyzed and compared with 35 other sequences (24 from other countries and 17 from Brazil).
