PCV2 is globally spread pathogen involved in a number of diseases (PCVD). Commonly used vaccines against PCV2 are proved to be highly efficacious. The role of recently discovered PCV3 for pig health and interference with PCV2 remains unknown. The study performed on serum samples from seven farms vaccinated against PCV2 and four non-vaccinated showed ...

Porcine circovirus type 3: a threat to the pig industry?
Veterinary Record, 2017Collins and others ( VR , 2 December 2017, vol 181, p 599), described a retrospective study on porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) in the UK. PCV3 was found to have been prevalent in Northern Ireland since 2002 and in England since 2001. This report put UK as the seventh country …

First molecular detection of porcine circovirus type 3 in dogs in China
Virus Genes, 2017Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) has recently been isolated from diseased pigs within the USA. The objective was to detect the presence of PCV3 in dogs. Nested polymerase chain reactions (PCR) with PCV3-specific primers for the capsid gene were used to detect PCV3 genomic DNA in serum samples from dogs (n = 44) in China.

Detection and phylogenetic analysis of porcine circovirus type 3 in central China
Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2018Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) is the pathogen responsible for a new infectious disease that was first reported in 2016 in the United States. To further investigate the epidemic profile and genetic diversity of the virus, one hundred and seventy clinical samples (110 tissue samples and 60 serum samples) were collected from 41 different pig farms in ...

First detection of porcine circovirus type 3 on commercial pig farms in Poland
Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2017Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) is a novel circovirus species recently discovered in USA and China in cases of porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome, reproductive failure, respiratory disease and multisystemic inflammation. This study reports on the first identification of PCV3 in Europe, in serum from pigs from Polish farms.

Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) was first detected in aborted fetuses in 2015 when sows displaying clinical signs that looked like porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome died suddenly. Primary porcine kidney cells were selected for both the isolation and propagation of PCV3 strain SNUVR181115 (GenBank accession number MK503331) as these cells ...

Production of a monoclonal antibody against Porcine circovirus type 3 cap protein
Journal of Virological Methods, 2018Porcine cirvovirus type 3 (PCV3) is a newly emerging swine virus with worldwide distribution. The pathogenesis of PCV3 remains unknown due to failures in propagating and isolating the virus on successive cell lines. The virus cap protein is the only structural protein of PCV3 and no monoclonal antibodies against it are available.

First detection and full genome sequence of porcine circovirus type 3 in Russia
Virus Genes, 2018Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) was firstly detected in 2016 in USA. Later PCV3 was discovered in Asia, Europe, and South America. The present investigation demonstrates for the first time the circulation of PCV3 among pigs in Russia. The viruses were detected at two geographically distant unrelated commercial farms with records of reproductive ...

As the number of free-living wild boars (Sus scrofa L.) continues to rise in Slovakia, the probability of pathogen transmission between susceptible species increases. We investigated the distribution and genetic characterization of porcine parvovirus type 3 (PPV3), porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), and their coinfection in wild boars. Among 194 animals

A multiplex digital PCR assay for detection and quantitation of porcine circovirus type 2 and type 3
Archives of VirologyPorcine circovirus (PCV) has become a major pathogen, causing major economic losses in the global pig industry, and PCV type 2 (PCV2) and 3 (PCV3) are distributed worldwide. We designed specific primer and probe sequences targeting PCV2 Cap and PCV3 Rap and developed a multiplex crystal digital PCR (cdPCR) method after optimizing the primer ...
