Metagenomic identification and sequence analysis of a Teschovirus A-related virus in porcine feces in Japan, 2014–2016

open access: yesInfection, Genetics and Evolution, 2018
Porcine Teschoviruses (PTVs) are associated with polioencephalomyelitis and various diseases, including reproductive and gastrointestinal disorders, of pigs and wild boars, and are also detected in the feces of healthy pigs. The genus Teschovirus contains a single species Teschovirus A that currently includes 13 serotypes.

Engineering recombinant replication-competent bluetongue viruses expressing reporter genes for in vitro and non-invasive in vivo studies

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Bluetongue virus (BTV) is the causative agent of the important livestock disease bluetongue (BT), which is transmitted via Culicoides bites. BT causes severe economic losses associated with its considerable impact on health and trade of animals.

Rapid reconstruction of infectious bronchitis virus expressing fluorescent protein from its nsp2 gene based on transformation-associated recombination platform

open access: yesJournal of Virology
Traditional reverse genetics strategies for large-genome RNA viruses are hindered by multiple technical bottlenecks, including dependence on specific restriction enzyme sites, cumbersome multi-step cloning, and genetic instability of oversized DNA in ...

Characterization of PTV-12, a newly described porcine teschovirus serotype: in vivo infection and cross-protection studies

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2017
Porcine teschoviruses (PTVs) constitute 1 of the 31 genera within the Picornaviridae family, comprising at least 13 genetic types (PTV-1 to PTV-13), of which only 11 (PTV-1 to PTV-11) have been recognized as serotypes to date. Specific for swine and wild boars, most PTVs are usually non-pathogenic, but some viral variants cause severe disorders in the ...
