Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Nanoscale pore characteristics and fractal characteristics of organic-rich shale: An example from the lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation in the Fenggang block in northern Guizhou Province, South China

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2019
Organic-rich marine shale in South China has great potential for gas generation, and the pore structure has a considerable influence on the enrichment of shale gas. The nanoscale pore characteristics and fractal characteristics of the Niutitang shales in

The Description of Shale Reservoir Pore Structure Based on Method of Moments Estimation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Shale has been considered as good gas reservoir due to its abundant interior nanoscale pores. Thus, the study of the pore structure of shale is of great significance for the evaluation and development of shale oil and gas.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

A comparative analysis of mercury intrusion and nitrogen adsorption methods for multifractal characterization of shale reservoirs in northern Songliao Basin

open access: yesScientific Reports
The northern Songliao Basin is shale-oil-rich with high exploration potential. However, its heterogeneity challenge reservoir characterization and evaluation, impeding exploration and development efforts.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
