Total phenolics and antioxidant activity of Piper auritum and Porophyllum ruderale

Food Chemistry, 2014
Extracts from fresh and dried samples of Mexican pepperleaf (Piper auritum Kunth) and "papalo" (Porophyllum ruderale) were obtained using a stirring or an ultrasound extraction system with five types of solvents (water, 50:50% v/v ethanol:water, 70:30% v/v ethanol:water, 85:15% v/v ethanol:1.5N HCl, and ethanol).

Volatile Constituents ofPorophyllum ruderaleCass.

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 1994
ABSTRACT The chemical composition of the unpleasantly odored steam distilled leaf oil of Porophyllum ruderale Cass. was determined as limonene (74.6%) and (E, E)-dodecadienal (21.8%). Adsorption chromatography over silica gel was used for the separation, whereas structure determination was accomplished mainly by GC/MS, 1H- and 13C-NMR, and comparison ...

The Essential Oil ofPorophyllum ruderaleCass (Asteraceae)

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 2002
Abstract Porophyllum ruderale Cass. (Asteraceae) (1) is a medicinal plant from Brazil. Oils produced by steam distillation from leaves and roots were analyzed by GC/MS and retention indices. The leaf oil showed limonene (75.2%) and (E,E)-dodecadienal (15.5%) as main constituents. The major components found in the root oil were davanone-2-ol (22.7%) and

Supercritical extraction of essential oils of Piper auritum and Porophyllum ruderale

The Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2017
Abstract Essential oils (EO) of Piper auritum (“hoja santa”) and Porophyllum ruderale (“papalo” or “papalo quelite”), previously dried, were obtained by supercritical extraction (SCE) with CO 2 . Oil extraction was performed at two temperatures (40 and 50 °C) and two pressures (10.34 and 17.24 MPa).

Differentiation of twoPorophyllum ruderale(Jacq.) Cass. subspecies by the essential oil composition

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 2014
The essential oil from the aerial parts of two cultivated subspecies from Porophyllum ruderale, Porophyllum ruderale subsp. macrocephalum (PRM) and Porophyllum ruderale subsp. ruderale (PRR) were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Monoterpenes were the most abundant components.
