Polyphenolic characterisation and antiprotozoal effect of extracts obtained by maceration, ultrasound, microwave and ultrasound/microwave of Porophyllum ruderale (Jacq.) Cass.

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2023
Porophyllum ruderale (Jacq.) Cass. (Asteraceae) has antiprotozoal properties and contains extractable phenolic compounds by the maceration method (M). However, new extraction proposals such as ultrasound (U), microwaves (MW), and ultrasound/microwaves (U/MW) have emerged to optimise yields, but it is unknown if these methods modify effectiveness ...

Green Synthesis of Stable Sub‐Nano Silver Clusters with Potential against Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Sub‐nano‐sized Ag‐clusters represent an intermediate class between isolated atoms and nanoparticles, and they can possess new, unexpected properties differing from bulk and nano‐sized particles. A simple, fast, one‐step, cost‐effective protocol was revealed to prepare stable sub‐nano‐sized Ag‐clusters with green synthesis.

Evaluation of the lethality of Porophyllum ruderale essential oil against Biomphalaria glabrata, Aedes aegypti and Artemia salina

open access: yesAFRICAN JOURNAL OF BIOTECHNOLOGY, 2012
The essential oil of flowers and leaves of Porophylum ruderale (Asteraceae) was investigated for its molluscicidal and larvicidal activities, and its toxicities to brine shrimps. The essential oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). GC/MS analysis showed a total volatile content of 99.98% in the P. ruderale oil (PREO).
