Concentration Gradient, Diffusion, and Flow Through Open Porous Medium Near Percolation Threshold via Computer Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The interacting lattice gas model is used to simulate fluid flow through an open percolating porous medium with the fluid entering at the source-end and leaving from the opposite end.

Directional Lower Porosity [PDF]

open access: yesReal Analysis Exchange, 2014
We investigate differences between upper and lower porosity. In finite dimensional Banach spaces every upper porous set is directionally upper porous. We show the situation is very different for lower porous sets; there exists a lower porous set in the plane which is not even a countable union of directionally lower porous sets.

Using a Supramolecular Approach to Engineer Modular Hydrogel Platforms for Culturing Protoplasts – from General Tissue Engineering to Cellular Agriculture

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Using supramolecular monomers, various hydrogel culture systems were formulated to culture protoplasts; including 2D, 2.5D, and 3D hydrogels. Depending on the culture platform, bioactive functionalization led to protoplast enlargement (2D and 2.5D) or plasmolysis (3D). This work shows the potential to modularly engineer synthetic platforms for cellular

Salt crystallisation at the surface of a heterogeneous porous medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Evaporation of saline solutions from a porous medium often leads to the precipitation of salt at the surface of the porous medium. It is commonly observed that the crystallized salt does not form everywhere at the porous medium surface but only at some ...
