Mathematical model. existence and uniqueness of cavitation problems in porous journal bearing

Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1993
Self lubricating bearings are a constituent of an impervious turning shaft, surrounded with a bush, which is made of a porous sintered material, impregnated with oil. A thin film of oil separates the bush from the turning shaft. The behavior of the oil in this gap is usually taken into account by considering the Reynolds hydrodynamic equation. At first

Effects of Misalignment on the Performance of Flexible Porous Journal Bearings

Tribology Transactions, 2003
A mathematical model is introduced to study the effects of journal misalignment on the hydrodynamic lubrication performance of finite flexible porous journal bearings. A modified form of Reynolds equation, which was derived from the Brinkman-extended Darcy equations and Stokes' equations, is utilized in the present study.

Theoretical investigation on the static properties of the finite porous journal bearings

2004
Summary: A theoretical analysis is carried out to determine the analytical approximate description of the fluid film force of porous finite journal bearings. The investigation has been conducted assuming the Warner solution for the pressure field and the approximate analytical solution for the long porous journal bearings proposed by D'Agostino et al. (

Gas-Lubricated Porous Bearings of Finite Length—Self-Acting Journal Bearings

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1979
The effects of porosity on the performance of gas bearings are investigated. A thin-wall approximation is developed to simplify the coupling between the Reynolds equation in the fluid film and the three dimensional Laplace equation in the porous matrix.
