The performance of a porous ceramic hydrostatic journal bearing
The performance of a porous-ceramic hydrostatic journal bearing manufactured by the starch consolidation (SC) technique has been examined using a highly instrumented test rig. The results have been compared with those of a 5-recess hydrostatic bearing of the same size and comparable design, under the same testing conditions.

Computational model of sliding bearing
Introduction. Refined computational models of tribosystems taking into account the dependence of viscosity and permeability of the porous coating on pressure through partial filling of the front gap with lubricant are described.

Shear-induced pressure changes and seepage phenomena in a deforming porous layer-I [PDF]
We present a model for flow and seepage in a deforming, shear-dilatant sensitive porous layer that enables estimates of the excess pore fluid pressures and flow rates in both the melt and solid phase to be captured simultaneously as a function of stress ...

Frequency Dependent Rheology of Vesicular Rhyolite [PDF]
Frequency dependent rheology of magmas may result from the presence of inclusions (bubbles, crystals) in the melt and/or from viscoelastic behavior of the melt itself.

Soft lubrication: the elastohydrodynamics of non-conforming and conforming contacts
We study the lubrication of fluid-immersed soft interfaces and show that elastic deformation couples tangential and normal forces and thus generates lift. We consider materials that deform easily, due to either geometry (e.g.
