Temporal power modulation increases weld depth in high‐power laser beam welding of dissimilar round bars by nearly 20% compared to same average continuously welded welding power. The mechanism of action also applies to sheet welding and depends on the inertia of keyhole depth for the modulated laser beam power.

On the signed porous medium flow [PDF]
We prove that the signed porous medium equation can be regarded as limit of an optimal transport variational scheme, therefore extending the classical result for positive solutions of [13] and showing that an optimal transport approach is suited even for treating signed densities.

Model of suspension displacement in a porous medium
The displacement of monodisperse suspension by clean water in a porous medium, accompanied by the formation of deposit is considered. A flow of water is supplied at the inlet of the porous medium filled with suspension.

On the Wave Turbulence Theory for the Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation with Random Potentials
We derive new kinetic and a porous medium equations from the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with random potentials. The kinetic equation has a very similar form compared to the four-wave turbulence kinetic equation in the wave turbulence theory ...

Barometric pumping of a fractured porous medium
AbstractBarometric pumping plays a crucial role in the release of trace gases from fractured porous media to the atmosphere, and it requires a rigorous and complete modeling in order to go beyond the approximate schemes available in the literature. Therefore, a coupled set of convection and convection‐diffusion equations for a slightly compressible ...

A theory of dispersion in a porous medium [PDF]
This paper is concerned with the dispersion of a dynamically neutral material quantity in a fluid flowing throuh a porous medium. The medium is regarded as an assemblage of randomly orientated straight pores, and it is assumed that the path of a marked element of the material quantity consists of a sequence of statistically independent steps whose ...
