Anthracene‐Porphyrin Nanoribbons
Abstractπ‐Conjugated nanoribbons attract interest because of their unusual electronic structures and charge‐transport behavior. Here, we report the synthesis of a series of fully edge‐fused porphyrin‐anthracene oligomeric ribbons (dimer and trimer), together with a computational study of the corresponding infinite polymer.

Interlocked Porphyrin Switches [PDF]
AbstractWe describe the synthesis of a series of interlocked structures from porphyrin–glycoluril cage compounds and bis(olefin)‐terminated viologens by an olefin‐metathesis protocol. The length of the chain connecting the olefin substituents with the viologen has a marked effect on the products of the ring‐closure reaction.

Inverted porphyrins and expanded porphyrins: An overview [PDF]
Porphyrins and metallopophyrins have attracted the attention of chemists for the past 100 years or more owing to their widespread involvement in biology. More recently, synthetic porphyrins and porphyrin-like macrocycles have attracted the attention of researchers due to their diverse applications as sensitizers for photodynamic therapy, MRI ...

Synthesis and Photostability of Cyclooctatetraene-Substituted Free Base Porphyrins
A series of free base meso-tetraarylporphyrins functionalized with substituents containing one, two, and four cyclooctatetraene (COT) moieties have been obtained and characterized by spectral and photophysical studies. Three COT-free porphyrins served as

Metalloporphyrins inactivate caspase-3 and -8 [PDF]
Activation of caspases represents one of the earliest biochemical indicators for apoptotic cell death. Therefore, measurement of caspase activity is a widely used and generally accepted method to determine apoptosis in a wide range of in vivo and in ...

Peripherally-metallated porphyrins: meso-n1-porphyrinyl-platinum(II) complexes of 5,15-diaryl- and 5,10,15-triarylporphyrins [PDF]
Attempted metathesis reactions of peripherally-metallated meso-η1-porphyrinylplatinum(II) complexes such as trans-[PtBr(NiDPP)(PPh3)2] (H2DPP = 5,15-diphenylporphyrin) with organolithium reagents fail due to competitive addition at the porphyrin ring ...

Preliminary study of metalloporphyrins in some oil shales, red sea, Egypt
Occurence and distribution of metalloporphyrins were studied in asphaltene and maltene fractions of some Egyptian oil shales from the main producing mines (Abu-Shegeili, El-Beida, El-Nakheil and Abu-Tundub I, II) in red sea area (Fig.

Reactions of HNO with Metal Porphyrins: Underscoring the Biological Relevance of HNO [PDF]
Azanone (1 HNO, nitroxyl) shows interesting yet poorly understood chemical and biological effects. HNO has some overlapping properties with nitric oxide (NO), sharing its biological reactivity toward heme proteins, thiols, and oxygen.
