Van der Waals contribution to the inelastic atom-surface scattering

open access: yes, 2002
A calculation of the inelastic scattering rate of Xe atoms on Cu(111) is presented. We focus in the regimes of low and intermediate velocities, where the energy loss is mainly associated to the excitation electron-hole pairs in the substrate. We consider

Knowledge portals [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the workshop on Human Language Technology and Knowledge Management -, 2001
Knowledge portals provide views onto domainspecific information on the World Wide Web, thus facilitating their users to find relevant, domainspecific information. The construction of intelligent access and the provisioning of information to knowledge portals, however, remained an ad hoc task requiring extensive manual editing and maintenance by the ...

Implications of the dark axion portal for SHiP and FASER and the advantages of monophoton signals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We investigate the implications of the dark axion portal interaction, the axion-photon-dark photon vertex, for the future experiments SHiP and FASER. We also study the phenomenology of the combined vector portal (kinetic mixing of the photon and dark ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
