The bioaccumulation of cadmium by the Blue Swimmer Crab Portunus pelagicus L.

The Blue Swimmer Crab (Portunus pelagicus) accumulates only cadmium in the hepatopancreas after being presented elevated levels of the metals Cd, Cu, Zn, As, Fe and Al via a food source, the mussel Trychomya hirsuta. Over 8 weeks, crabs were fed a controlled diet to determine the accumulation of metals.

Incubated eggs of berried female crab Portunus pelagicus are hanged to the pleopodal setae by an attaching membrane. Each egg is protected by inner chorion and middle chitinous membrane. The middle chitinous and the outer attaching membranes form together a distinct case surrounding each egg. This case resists acids and alkalies and appears impermeable

พลวัตประชากรปูม้า Portunus pelagicus (Linnaeus, 1758) บริเวณอ่าวคุ้งกระเบน จังหวัดจันทบุรี

การศึกษาพลวัตประชากรปูม้าบริเวณอ่างคุ้งกระเบน จังหวัดจันทบุรี ตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคม ถึงเดือนธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2548 พบว่ามีปริมาณผลผลิตปูม้ามีเพียง 62 ตันต่อปี ซึ่งลดลงจากปี พ.ศ. 2547 ที่มีปริมาณ 80 ตัน และพบว่าอัตราส่วนระหว่างเพศผู้ต่อเพศเมียมีค่าเป็น 1:1.19 ความหนาแน่นและการกระจายของประชากรปูม้าพบว่ามีความแตกต่างกันในแต่ละฤดูกาล โดยมีความหนาแน่นมากที่สุดในฤด ...

Thermal tolerance of the marine crab, Portunus pelagicus (Brachyura, Portunidae)

Critical thermal maxima (CTMax) and minima (CTMin) were determined for the blue crab, Portunus pelagicus acclimated at 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35° ± 1°C. The CTMax of blue crabs at those acclimation temperatures were 38.17, 39.08, 40.07, 41.26, and 42.66°C, respectively.

The embryonic development of Portunus pelagicus was studied under laboratory conditions at a water temperature of 25-26 Degrees Celsius, salinity of 30, and pH of 7.8-8.4. The embryogenesis of Portunus pelagicus was divided into six stages: cleavage, blastula, gastrula, nauplius, metanauplius, and protozoea.
