Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Fuzzy anti-windup scheme for practical control of point-to-point (Ptp) positioning systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The Positioning Systems Generally Need A Controller To Achieve High Accuracy, Fast Response And Robustness. In Addition, Ease Of Controller Design And Simplicity Of Controller Structure Are Very Important For Practical Application.

Positivity Certificates in Optimal Control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We propose a tutorial on relaxations and weak formulations of optimal control with their semidefinite approximations. We present this approach solely through the prism of positivity certificates which we consider to be the most accessible for a broad audience, in particular in the engineering and robotics communities.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Spacecraft applications of advanced global positioning system technology [PDF]

open access: yes
The purpose of this study was to evaluate potential uses of Global Positioning System (GPS) in spacecraft applications in the following areas: attitude control and tracking; structural control; traffic control; and time base definition (synchronization).

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A hierarchical approach to multi-project planning under uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We survey several viewpoints on the management of the planning complexity of multi-project organisations under uncertainty. A positioning framework is proposed to distinguish between different types of project-driven organisations, which is meant to aid ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Variations in the physicochemical properties of soil, enzyme activities, and the characteristics of bacterial communities within algal biocrusts and subsoils across different plant communities

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Algal biological soil crusts (ABSCs) as ecological engineers inhabiting the soil-atmosphere boundary in dryland. Bacteria living at this boundary drive the diversity of ecosystem functions and services. However, it is still unknown whether differences in

Control of Transonic Shock Positions [PDF]

open access: yesESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations, 2002
Summary: We wish to show how the shock position in a nozzle could be controlled. Optimal control theory and algorithm is applied to the transonic equation. The difficulty is that the derivative with respect to the shock position involves a Dirac mass. The one dimensional case is solved, the two dimensional one is analyzed.
