Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Intelligent control algorithm for dynamic positioning control system

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering
Introduction: The dynamic positioning system resists the environmental forces such as wind, wave and current acting on the ship through the thruster, so that the ship can remain in the position required by the sea level as much as possible, and the ...

Stabilization, pointing and command control of a balloon-borne 1-meter telescope [PDF]

open access: yes
A 1-meter balloon-borne telescope has been constructed and flown to observe far-infrared radiation from celestial sources. The attitude control systems must perform to the diffraction limit of the telescope for stabilization and have positioning ...

Control Sets and Total Positivity

open access: yesSemigroup Forum, 2004
The goal of this paper is to connect two different mathematical subjects, namely totally positive matrices and control sets. The set \(T\) of totally positive matrices in \(Sl(d,\mathbb{R})\) (subgroup of determinant one matrices of size \(d \times d\)) is also a semigroup with non-empty interior in \(Sl(d,\mathbb{R})\).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Measuring Workload Differences Between Short-term Memory and Long-term Memory Scenarios in a Simulated Flight Environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Four highly experienced Air Force pilots each flew four simulated flight scenarios. Two scenarios required a great deal of aircraft maneuvering. The other two scenarios involved less maneuvering, but required remembering a number of items.

Trapping of ultra-cold atoms with the magnetic field of vortices in a thin film superconducting micro-structure

open access: yes, 2009
We store and control ultra-cold atoms in a new type of trap using magnetic fields of vortices in a high temperature superconducting micro-structure. This is the first time ultra-cold atoms have been trapped in the field of magnetic flux quanta.

Specification of a NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver for a differential GPS ground system [PDF]

open access: yes
One step towards the successful completion of a functional ground unit for the Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) will be in choosing a currently available GPS receiver that will accurately measure the propagation times of the satellite ...
