The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Practical identification of NARMAX models using radial basis functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
A wide class of discrete time non-linear systems can be represented by the non-linear autoregressive moving average model with exogenous inputs or NARMAX model. This paper develops a practical algorithm for identifying NARMAX models based on radial basis

T-cell metagene predicts a favorable prognosis in estrogen receptor-negative and HER2-positive breast cancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Introduction: Lymphocyte infiltration (LI) is often seen in breast cancer but its importance remains controversial. A positive correlation of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) amplification and LI has been described, which was associated ...

Justifiability of amniocentesis on the basis of positive findings of triple test, ultrasound scan and advanced maternal age

open access: yesActa Medica Academica, 2011
Objective. To assess the effectiveness of antenatal screening for chromosomal abnormalities based on maternal age (≥35 years), positive ultrasound findings or a positive triple test. Materials and methods. Retrospective six-year study. The pregnant women

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

UPPER AND LOWER BOUNDS OF THE BASIS NUMBER OF KRONECKER PRODUCT OF A WHEEL WITH A PATH AND A CYCLE [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2007
The basis number, b(G) ,of a graph G is defined to be the smallest positive integer k such that G has a k-fold basis for its cycle space. We investigate upper and lower bounds of the basis number of Kronecker product of a wheel with a path and a cycle ...
