Empowering teens through food justice

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development
Youth food justice programs hire teenagers to engage in food justice projects in their neighborhoods. These community-oriented programs encourage youth to discover and develop their natural strengths by farming, taking advantage of leadership ...

High Energy Density Asymmetric Aqueous Supercapacitor Based on a 2D Manganese Carbide as a Positive Electrode

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A circular route, involving upcycling of waste surgical masks, affords a Mn‐based layered carbide with porosity, redox activity and low work function. These features enable its effective operation as positive supercapacitor electrode in an aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor delivering 213 Wh L−1 energy density.

Positive youth development: current perspectives.

open access: yesAdolescent health, medicine and therapeutics, 2019
This review outlines the current perspectives on positive youth development (PYD). Besides presenting the diverse theoretical roots contributing to PYD approaches, this review also introduces several PYD perspectives, including Benson's 40 developmental assets, Lerner's 5Cs and 6Cs conceptions, Catalano's 15 PYD constructs, social-emotional learning ...

Liquid Metal Microrobots for Magnetically Guided Transvascular Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal‐based microrobots combine magnetic steering, intrinsic X‐ray visibility and softness, to navigate blood vessels even against flow. Under clinically relevant magnetic fields, liquid metal microrobots roll along vessel walls, cross endothelial barriers, and accumulate in target tissues.

Tunable Plasmonic Response of Silver Nanoparticles Entangled in Detonation Nanodiamond Network via Colloidal Self‐Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Detonation nanodiamonds form a network that entangles silver nanoparticles into stable nanocomplexes. The structure can fine‐tune and enhance plasmonic absorption through nearfield electromagnetic interactions but prevents silver particle aggregation. The study shows how the arrangement and concentration of particles affect light absorption, offering a

The Psychometric Properties of Positive Youth Development Scale in Students

open access: yesمجله علوم روانشناختی, 2018
As developmental psychologist cease to perceive adolescence as a period of turmoil and adopt the Positive Youth Development (PYD) perspective, pschometrically sound measurement tools will be needed to assess adolescent positive attributes.

From surviving to thriving: characterizing positive youth development among youth in Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adolescence and Youth, 2020
Studies that characterize youth from a strengths-based perspective are lacking in Africa and specifically in Ethiopia. This study examined the positive development of youth in Ethiopia focusing on their assets profile and corresponding thriving outcomes.

Interfacial Behavior of Methane in Methane/p‐Xylene/Water Systems: First Principles Inspected Using Neutron Imaging and Molecular Dynamics Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Pressurized gases reduce interfacial tension (IFT) at the gas‐liquid interfaces, their influence on the liquid–liquid interfaces remains unclear. For model compounds methane, water, and p‐xylene, neutron imaging observation of pressurized three‐phase systems is combined with Molecular Dynamics simulations.
