Targeted, receptor‐mediated delivery of a masked d‐amino acid cell‐penetrating peptide for cell‐specific phototoxicity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
A targeted phototoxic peptide selectively accumulates in cells expressing chemokine‐like receptor 1 (CMKLR1). Phototoxicity of the native peptide is low, but cleavage by lysosomal protease cathepsin B releases a 6‐tetramethylrhodamine (TMR) labeled nona‐ᴅ‐arginine which mediates lysosomal rupture and cell death upon irradiation.

Positron Lifetime Measurements in Nanostructured Ni-Al Samples

open access: yes, 2000
Positron lifetime spectroscopy is an effective tool to study various types of defects in materials including nanostructured ones. The size of free volumes associated with defects can be estimated using the lifetime components found in the measured ...

Research Review: A scoping review exploring the needs, barriers, and facilitators to the collection of biological data in adolescence for mental health research

open access: yesJournal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, EarlyView.
Background There is increasing recognition of the challenge of representativeness in data, including economic, social, and ethnic diversity, in biological mental health research. This is a particular challenge in adolescence, where brain and body development are impacted by the environment.

Positron lifetime spectroscopic studies of as-grown 6H-silicon carbide

open access: yes, 2000
Positron lifetime spectroscopy has been employed to study the as-grown n-type 1.2 × 1018 cm-3 N-doped and p-type 1.8 × 1018 cm-3 Al-doped 6H-silicon carbide in the temperature range 10 K-300 K. For the p-type material, a positron trapping site, which has

Periodontal Medicine Rewired: Mechanisms Linking Periodontitis to Systemic Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This review reorganizes decades of research in periodontal medicine into a multi‐dimensional framework, illustrating how periodontitis influences systemic health through at least seven interconnected mechanisms. ABSTRACT Periodontitis is now recognized not merely as a localized oral condition but as a systemic disease linked to over 70 communicable and

Remarks on Reconstruction of Defects' Distribution by Positron Lifetime Measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
It is well known that the positron trapping rate obtained from positron lifetime measurements depends upon defect concentrations and trapping efficiency. If a distribution of open volume defects exists, a distribution of trapping efficiency also could be

Innovations in Obesity Treatment: Beyond Adipose Tissue Dysfunction

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
Obesity drives chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cancer development through adipocyte dysfunction. Addressing this multisystemic disorder requires integrated strategies beyond diet and exercise, such as thermogenesis activation via menthol or capsinoids and appetite control through GLP‐1/GIP agonists and neuromodulation to ...

Observation of a shape resonance of the positronium negative ion

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
The Positronium negative ion is formed by two electrons bound to a positron, and experimental investigations of its states and energy levels are difficult due to its short lifetime.

Proton irradiation-induced defects in undoped GaSb studied by positron lifetime spectroscopy and photoluminescence

open access: yes, 2009
Undoped GaSb was irradiated by 2.6 MeV protons. The irradiation-induced defects were studied by positron lifetime spectroscopy (PLS) and photoluminescence (PL).
