Positron lifetime calculations for stacking fault tetrahedra in copper
We investigate the positron response of simulated stacking fault tetrahedra in Cu. We find that in both the regular and truncated stacking fault tetrahedra positron lifetimes are about 10-15 ps larger than the bulk lifetime.

Background Major depressive disorder (MDD) aggregates in families. The neostriatum, key to reward and attachment circuits, has the highest density of serotonin 4 receptors (5‐HT4R). Striatal 5‐HT4R is low in MDD and linked to familial depression risk. Poor parental bonding increases depression risk, yet whether nature and nurture converge on 5‐HT4R is ...

Of mice and men—The emerging oral–gut–brain axis of health and disease
Abstract Objectives Oral health's inextricable links to systemic health are highlighted by the emerging oral–gut–brain axis and other well‐known axes. There is growing evidence of a complex oral–gut–brain axis linking mouth and gut microbiomes with the central nervous system.

Integrated anti-electronics for positron annihilation spectroscopy
Imaging the features of a sample using Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy (PAS) is currently achieved by rastering, i.e. by scanning the sample surface with a sharply focused positron beam.

Positron Annihilation Lifetime Measurements in Collagen Biopolymer
Lifetime measurement in Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy (PAS) is applied to the study of free-volume collagen characteristics as a function of concentration. The lifetimes of positrons were obtained by a conventional fast-fast coincidence system.

Uncovering the impact of the cardiovascular system on cerebrovascular health using MRI
Abstract Human cerebrovasculature is finely tuned to enable local changes in blood flow to meet the brain's demands, whilst protecting the brain from systemic changes in blood pressure, both acutely during a heartbeat and chronically over time. This review summarises cerebrovascular structure and function, their role in disease and neurodegeneration ...

BackgroundThe defects generated during the working process of metal materials have a significant impact on their performance. For example, the radiation-induced embrittlement and hardening of reactor pressure vessel (RPV) steels are a factor of concern ...

Positron lifetime analysis using the matrix inverse Laplace transformation method
The generalized least squares matrix formalism method with non-negativity constraint is developed to invert positron annihilation lifetime spectra to positron annihilation rate (PAR) spectra. The method, which employs an instrumental resolution function (

Abstract figure legend Temporal scaling physiology differs significantly between mice and humans. Mice have higher metabolism, heart and respiratory rate, as well as faster blood flow rates, brain activity and physiological dynamics over time. These differences influence the temporal resolution needed in preclinical imaging of mouse models to ...
