Nonlinear buckling and post-buckling of eccentrically oblique stiffened sandwich functionally graded double curved shallow shells

Aerospace Science and Technology, 2019
This paper aims to investigate the nonlinear buckling and post-buckling of eccentrically oblique stiffened sandwich functionally graded double curved shallow shells resting on elastic foundations in thermal environment.

Post-Buckling of Geometrically Imperfect Plates

Journal of the Structural Division, 1972
Explicit expressions are derived for the collapse and elastic post-buckling of simply supported, geometrically imperfect plates with stress-free edges. For the purposes of design, such plates can be taken as representative of the stiffened compression elements of thin-walled structural sections.

Design procedure for the web-post buckling of steel cellular beams

Journal of constructional steel research, 2018
This research presents a study about the structural behavior of steel cellular beams, focused on the web-post buckling. The main objective of this study is to propose a new formulation to calculate the shear resistance of cellular beams for this ...

Post-Buckling Behavior under Mode Interaction

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1979
The post-buckling behavior of continuous elastic systems under interaction of two symmetric stable or unstable modes, is considered. For the cases of two stable (unstable) modes with a negative (positive) interaction coefficient, it is shown that mode interaction increases imperfection sensitivity whenever a 2 times 2 energy matrix of the perfect ...

Post‐Buckling Behavior of Guyed Towers

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1983
The post‐buckling behavior of a simple column guyed in a plane by symmetric guy wires is considered. The column is built‐in at the ground, and the structure is loaded by a single vertical force W. Consideration is given to both the nonlinear behavior of a post‐buckled column and to the inherently nonlinear behavior of extensible guy wires subjected to ...

Buckling and post-buckling behavior of various dented cylindrical shells using CFRP strips subjected to uniform external pressure: Comparison of theoretical and experimental data

Thin-walled structures, 2019
Thin-walled circular cylindrical shells are used in many civil engineering applications. Any initial geometric imperfections and the type of applied load determine the buckling and the post buckling of cylindrical thin-walled shell structures.

Shear effect on cruciform post-buckling

Engineering Structures, 2013
Abstract The elastic post-torsional-buckling behaviour of a simply supported cruciform column has been analysed, and its strength has been approximated by assuming that it fails when it first yields due to the maximum normal stress induced by the axial compression. However, torsional shear stresses are induced in the post-buckling regime.

An efficient approach for post-buckling analysis of sandwich structures with elastic-plastic material behavior

International Journal of Engineering Science, 2019
This paper aims to propose an efficient and accurate framework for the post-buckling analysis of sandwich structures with elastic-plastic material behaviors. Correspondingly, efforts are made in two aspects, i.e., the model and the nonlinear solver.
