Reply from the Author : I had two goals in my review of minor brain injury. First, I wanted to emphasize-to an audience of neurologists-that the natural history of concussion is complex. Neurologic disturbances (predominantly of attention and memory) last longer and are more disabling than is often recognized. Second, I attempted a clinical analysis of

Post-concussion syndrome is a term used for a concussion that follows a longer than expected time for recovery. There is no consensus definition for this syndrome, making scientific study a challenge. A commonly used term to describe this condition is persistent post-concussive symptoms (PPCS).

The post-concussion syndrome (a.k.a., post-concussive disorder and post concussional disorder) has been controversial for decades. Without question, an acute post-concussion syndrome can be caused by the neurobiology of a mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI).

Abstract Purpose Over 85% of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are considered “mild”, also referred to as “concussion”. Mild TBI is increasingly recognized as an important public health problem. Despite their designation as “mild”, adverse outcomes from such injuries are significant, with 25% of patients still impaired at one year. Visual difficulties are
