Politics and professionalism in community development: Examining intervention in the highlands of northern Thailand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
It has been suggested that the practice of international development assistance is so deeply problematic that the only moral choice is to abandon the work altogether.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Hydrothermal Synthesis of CuO-SnO2 and CuO-SnO2-Fe2O3 Mixed Oxides and their Electrochemical Characterization in Neutral Electrolyte

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2009
Hydrothermal synthesis of CuO-SnO2 and CuO-SnO2-Fe2O3 mixed oxides is done in an autoclave using the precursors and urea. The powders are characterized by XRD, XRF, SEM and XPS.

The Expression of The PfEMP1-DBL2β Recombinant Protein of Plasmodium falciparum Welch, 1897 Isolated From Indonesia

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Dasar, 2020
The binding of Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) to Intracellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1) is a major pathological mechanism in severe malaria including cerebral malaria. The binding is mediated by PfEMP1-DBL2β domain. The

Towards Linking Four Emerging Paradigms in Economic Theory—Regulationist, Institutionalist, Post-modernist, and Post-development [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper is an epistemological attempt to synthesise four emerging paradigms in economic theory. These paradigms are the regulationist, the institutionalist, the post-modernist, and the post-development. Arguably, these are paradigms rather than models

Overview of methodologies for building ontologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A few research groups are now proposing a series of steps and methodologies for developing ontologies. However, mainly due to the fact that Ontological Engineering is still a relatively immature discipline, each work group employs its own methodology ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Fair Trade from a Post-Development Perspective

open access: yesCzech Journal of International Relations, 2010
The fundamental problems of development politics lead some authors to call for alternatives to development instead of calling for development alternatives. The approach, which is based on a post-structuralist, discursive critique and refuses development

Challenge in Digital Games: Towards Developing a Measurement Tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Challenge is arguably the most important experience that players seek in digital games. However, without a measure of how challenged players feel during the act of play, it is hard to design games that are neither too easy nor too hard and, therefore ...
