POST WELD HEAT TREATMENT OF A HIGH-TEMPERATURE STEEL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
After welding, heat treatment of weld joints on components made of high-temperature steels is usually necessary. In this work, several microstructures occurring in the heat affected zone (HAZ) in X10CrMoVNb9-1 hightemperature steel were simulated: Coarse grained HAZ (CGHAZ), two different fine grained HAZ (FGHAZ) and intercritical HAZ (ICHAZ).

Explosive cladding and post-weld heat treatment of mild steel and titanium

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2016
Abstract Explosive clads of mild steel (MS) and Ti Grade 2 have been fabricated using different explosive load ratios (R) of 1.07, 2.01 and 3. Interface microstructure, microhardness variation and bond strength of the MS/Ti clad joints were studied as a function of R.

Effect of Heat Treatment on Post Weld Railway Track

open access: yesFUDMA Journal of Engineering and Technology
The structural integrity of railway tracks is critically influenced by welding processes and subsequent treatments. This study investigates the effects of various post-weld heat treatment methods; annealing, normalizing, and tempering on the mechanical and microstructural properties of welded high-carbon steel railway tracks.

Chiral Morphing of Liquid Crystal Polymer Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This paper reviews how macroscopic chirality spontaneously arises from liquid crystal polymer materials. It describes how alignment is utilized to create the mechanical anisotropy, geometric misorientation and asymmetry that leads to chiral shape morphing, how shape selection between helicoids and helices arises, the techniques used to prepare these ...

Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.
