An Investigation of the Environmental Turbulence Factors and their Sources in the Collaboration - Post-harvest Food Loss Relationship [PDF]
Recent studies suggested that collaboration among upstream agricultural supply chain (ASC) partners will impact and possibly reduce postharvest food loss (PHFL) levels; a possible direct relationship between collaboration and PHFL was indicated.

EFFECT OF DIFFERENT STORAGE CONDITIONS ON NUTRITIONAL AND QUALITY PARAMETERS OF 'SWEETHEART' CHERRY. [PDF]
The sweet cherry ‘Sweetheart’, although having a short shelf life, is highly appreciated by consumers due to its organoleptic characteristics. Different storage methods were tested to study the maintenance of quality during a period of 27 days: 1) cold ...

Postharvest food loss reduction and agriculture policy framework in Tanzania: status and way forward
In 2014, Tanzania became a signatory of the African Union Postharvest Loss Management Strategy (AU-PHLMS) under the Malabo Declaration, a policy framework of the African Union aimed at reducing the continent's postharvest food losses by 50 percent by ...

Factors affecting the continued use of the mobile flash dryers by farmer co-operatives, Nueva Ecija, Philippines : a thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Master of Applied Science (Agricultural Systems Management), Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
Harvest of the Philippines second and larger rice crop occurs during the end of the wet season. For members of the rice industry this wet season harvest poses a problem: grain cannot be dried reliably using traditional sundrying methods.

Toward better understanding of postharvest deterioration: biochemical changes in stored cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) roots [PDF]
Food losses can occur during production, postharvest, and processing stages in the supply chain. With the onset of worldwide food shortages, interest in reducing postharvest losses in cassava has been increasing.

Herbivore and mesocarnivore carcasses trigger divergent short‐term changes in soil properties
Scavengers reshape nutrient cycles in soils under carrion. Compared to herbivore carcasses, smaller but longer‐lasting carnivore remains boost nutrient levels and microbial activity in dry soils. Abstract Animal corpses act as pulses of organic matter (OM) and serve a key zoogeochemical role by providing localized nutrient inputs to soils and thereby ...

Quiescence of postharvest pathogens: a fungal inhibition process or an immune response of the unripe host fruit? [PDF]
Summary Postharvest pathogens can infect fresh produce both before and after harvest, by direct or wound‐enhanced penetration, remaining quiescent until ripening. Biotrophic‐like postharvest pathogens persist beneath host cells and can remain in a state of quiescence.

Enhancing the vase life of cut roses through spectral optimisation during greenhouse cultivation
Here, we examined three red‐to‐blue (R:B) light emitting diode (LED) ratios (90:10, 80:20 and 70:30) in two cut rose cultivars. All treatments enhanced photosynthesis, with 90:10 showing the strongest effects—raising chlorophyll, carotenoids, anthocyanins and carbohydrate levels, and extending vase life by up to 30%.
